The text version enables you to view the report in a text editor or a word processor. You can also insert information copied from the Installation Report into another document. The .cir version enables you to send it to support people who can then use the "Browse" function to review the installation report through Install Discovery.

Interpretation of Installation Report

Q.   How do I interpret the "Setup Information" section?

    A.   The "Setup Information" section contains all software components directly and indirectly installed through this process. For example, a software application may require .Net Framework 3.0 as a pre-requisite and therefore install those components before the main application installation. All of the information is extracted from the installed software.

    B.   The "Involved Processes" are the processes involved in this installation process which include the setup .exe and other system services invoked by the setup .exe used to perform the installation.

Q.   How do I interpret the "Installed Folders and Files" section?

    A.   The files and/or folders with a "temporary" nature are files and folders that were created during the installation process but have been deleted by the application upon install completion.

Q.   How do I interpret the "Registry Value Changes" section?

    A.   The Registry Key Names with a "temporary" nature are registry keys that were created during the installation process but have been deleted by the application upon install completion. The icons for these keys will be grayed out.
